Joss/Joyce Family Association
The Joss/Joyce Family Association (JJFA) is committed to exploring, preserving, and sharing the rich and diverse heritage of the Joss and Joyce families, whose roots trace back to Scotland. Bringing together descendants, family historians, and interested friends, the JJFA fosters a collaborative effort to better understand the origins, migrations, and legacy of our shared ancestors. With a strong emphasis on both traditional genealogical research, including historical documents, family trees, and oral histories, and the growing field of genetic genealogy, such as Y-DNA and autosomal DNA analysis, the association seeks to uncover the stories and connections that span generations and continents. Special attention is given to the Joss families of Gamrie, Banffshire, in northeastern Scotland, and to their descendants who later became known as the Joyce family following migration to Ireland, particularly in Counties Armagh and Down. Although separated by time and geography, these branches are united by a common lineage that continues to inspire curiosity, connection, and pride among descendants worldwide. Whether you are new to family history or an experienced researcher, the JJFA offers a supportive and engaging community where members can share findings, ask questions, and contribute to a collective understanding of our Scottish roots. By nurturing these connections and preserving this legacy, the JJFA helps ensure that the stories of our ancestors continue to be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.
